Meeting on disinformation with Nigerian journalists

On 11 December this year in Abuja a meeting for Nigerian journalists was held, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in cooperation with Dr. Joy Asonye, President of the Female Journalists Network Nigeria. The meeting was attended by fack-checkers, academics and more than 25 representatives of the media world, including the Nigerian News Agency (NAN), the largest newspapers, i.a. The Guardian, Tribune, Vanguard, New Telegraph, Daily Trust, The Sun; television stations, i.a. NTA, AIT and radio channels, i.a. Voice of Nigeria, Radio Nigeria, Hot FM, Wazobia FM, as well as online media, i.a. Alkalanci.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland Michał Cygan and, as a special guest, the Director General of the Voice of Nigeria Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace addressed the audience. The keynote lecture was given by Prof. Okey Ikechukwu, Executive Director of the Develepment Specs Academy. In addition, the audience listened to the presentation of Aro Leonardo, the founder of the fact-checking organization Klevaro Communications. In the second part of the meeting, experts discussed the role of journalists in shaping international perceptions in the era of disinformation.
