Visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs K. Gawkowski to Togo and Nigeria

On 17-19th May, the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski led a high level delegation on a visit to Togo (Lomé), to be followed on 19-21st May by a visit and official engagements in Nigeria (Lagos and Abuja).

The main element of the visit to Togo was support for investments in the construction of a cybersecurity center by the Polish-Togolese joint-venture Cyber Defence Africa (CDA), with the participation of financing from BGK and on the basis of a guarantee from the EU EFSD+ fund. As part of the visit to Lomé, meetings were held with Prime Minister F. Gnassingbé and min. C. Lawson, as well as other ministers. A ceremonial initialling of the loan agreement for the construction of the cybersecurity center took place.

The visit to Nigeria began in Lagos, where the Deputy Prime Minister was received by the Governor of Lagos State, B. Sanwo-Olu, and his key commissioners. In Nigeria, the delegation emphasized the participation of Polish entities in the investment in the expansion of the port of Lagos, which has been unprecedented for decades, on the basis of KUKE loan guarantees. On the last day of the visit, 21st May, this year, the Deputy Prime Minister met with Vice-President K. Shettima in the capital of the country, Abuja. There were also meetings with Minister of Foreign Affairs B. Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of Interior O. Tunji-Ojo and Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy B. Tijani. All meetings contributed to the deepening of existing excellent cooperation and lend support to Nigeria’s political stability, security and economic development.
