Poland in the OECD

On 3 September, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski took part in a jubilee meeting of the Weimar Triangle foreign ministers. In Weimar, the chief diplomats of Poland, France, and Germany adopted a declaration to mark 35 years of building trilateral relations and confirm the countries' determination and willingness to cooperate further.

In the last week of August, American analysts and staff members from US Congress came on a study visit to Poland and Ukraine as part of the Atlantic Council's Eurasia Congressional Fellowship programme. The purpose of the meeting was to enhance the fellows' awareness of the political, security, economic, and strategic challenges facing the states that neighbour Russia.

On the centenary of Gdynia's town rights, its Modernist City Centre was entered on the UNESCO's World Heritage List as Poland's 18th site granted this privilege. The decision was made on Monday, 27 July, during 48th session of the World Heritage Committee in Busan. UNESCO appreciated Gdynia as an exceptional example of the modernist urban and architectural planning which shaped the town in the period between the First and Second World Wars.

Discussions on security, meetings with government representatives, and training sessions in team management are just a few of the events scheduled to take place during the Heads of Missions Conference. France's Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot will be the guest of honour during the Conference.

On 30 June, Undersecretary of State Artur Harazim met with Martin Briens, the French Republic's Secretary-General of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The consultations covered current affairs, security, and cooperation between our two countries.

On 24 June 2026, the MFA Department of Strategy hosted a meeting on the objectives of the Polish Foreign Policy Strategy 2026-2030. The event, which included a presentation and a discussion, was attended by representatives of NATO countries and the Indo-Pacific Four, that is Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea.

At the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski, the Council of the Baltic Sea States top diplomats gathered in Sopot on 28 and 29 May to take part in the 23rd Ministerial Council of the CBSS. The ministers signed the Sopot Declaration on security in the Baltic Sea region and support for Ukraine.

On 19 May, the European Parliament launched the European Order of Merit to honour individuals who have made a significant contribution to European integration. The laureates included Jerzy Buzek, former Prime Minister of Poland and former President of the European Parliament, and Lech Wałęsa, former President of Poland and leader of the Solidarity movement.

On the 22nd anniversary of Poland's accession to the European Union, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summarised the economic and social effects of Poland's membership of the European Union. The summary shows, beyond doubt, that Poland has achieved economic success within the EU, and making the most of the opportunities afforded by EU membership has largely contributed to this success. Since joining the EU, our country has caught up with many developed economies and has become a driving force of the Union's growth.

On 20 April, Poland and France will celebrate the first Polish-French Friendship Day. The event, established under the landmark Treaty of Nancy, will mark the opening of the Intergovernmental Summit in Gdańsk.
