Poland joins the Brussels Institute for Geopolitics
01.03.2025
We are pleased to announce that Poland decided to join the Brussels Institute for Geopolitics (BIG).
The main goal of the Institute is to take part in fostering a culture of strategic thinking in the European Union by preparing reports and analyses and holding discussions with the EU’s decision-makers.
The Institute conducts innovative research and analyses concerning geopolitical and geostrategic issues, focusing on topics which are the most relevant to Europe’s standing on the global arena.
While commenting on the Polish government’s decision to join the Brussels Institute for Geopolitics, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Marek Prawda highlighted that the European Union has the potential, resources, and instruments to become a major global player. “To achieve this, we must engage in deep reflection on what defines our community, which values are fundamental to us, and what price we, as Europeans, are willing to pay to defend them. As one of the EU’s largest member states, Poland should actively participate in this debate,” stated the deputy head of the Polish MFA. He added that the Brussels Institute for Geopolitics was created precisely to respond to these questions, which are fundamental to the future of the EU.
Poland joined BIG at the invitation of its founder, Luuk van Middelaar. By participating in this initiative, Poland, together with other EU member states and institutions, will lay the foundations for the European Union’s geopolitical resilience and readiness to face global challenges.
