Virtual Poland-Estonia Business Forum

07.04.2021

- Relations between Poland and Estonia are living proof that working remotely doesn’t mean working any less efficiently. This is demonstrated, for example, by the fact that in the year 2020, so affected by the pandemic, trade between our two countries not only did not shrink but actually grew by four percent, largely because of the digital economy - said Foreign Minister Professor Zbigniew Rau in his opening remarks to today’s Poland-Estonia Virtual Business Forum.

Organised by the foreign ministries of Poland and Estonia together with business partners, particularly the Polish-Estonian Chamber of Commerce, founded in 2020, the Forum is part of celebrations marking the centenary of diplomatic relations between both countries. Most of all, however, it provides an opportunity to reflect on the future of bilateral economic cooperation and the role that high-tech industries should play in it.

Economic cooperation between Poland and Estonia still has untapped potential, with the Three Seas Initiative being one of its most promising areas, where both our countries could become the leaders of the Three Seas Digital Motorway - emphasised the chief of Polish diplomacy.

A panel part of the event focused on the prospects for developing cooperation in the most promising areas: the smart city, cybersecurity, and drones. Bringing together representatives of Estonian and Polish companies, including major players in these sectors, the discussion was preceded by an introduction from Artur Kuczmowski, the President of the Polish-Estonian Chamber of Commerce.

The event’s central part involved B2B discussions between Polish and Estonian companies.
