Poland in Saudi Arabia

The Saturday issue of the Italian daily La Repubblica published an article by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland Mr. Mateusz Morawiecki regarding the Easter hope for a better tomorrow, Polish-Italian friendship, Polish gestures of sympathy for Italy, important anniversaries in 2020 and the need for European solidarity.

On 10 April 2010, a special TU-154M plane with the President of Poland Lech Kaczyński and the First Lady Maria Kaczyńska on board took off from Warsaw to Smolensk. On that very day the members of the official delegation were to participate in the ceremonies taking place in the Katyn War Cemetery, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the crime committed there. The aircraft carried 96 people, including members of the highest state authorities, representatives of various social circles and religious denominations, high-ranking military commanders and the plane’s crew. All the flight passengers died in the air disaster which took place during landing at the airport near Smolensk.

The Embassy of Poland in Riyadh and the Polish Nation support the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its fight against the global COVID-19 pandemic and praise the measures taken to protect the citizens and residents against the disease.

On the occasion of the World Health Day we especially thank Polish doctors and healthcare representatives for their help and efforts in providing health services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) has announced the call for proposals in the next edition of the program addressed to students and scientists: the POLONISTA Programme. Deadline: April 30th 2020.

As part of the PLL LOT action “LOT do Domu”, Polish Airlines special charter took Poles and EU citizens remaining in Saudi Arabia back home. Those who did not manage to leave the Kingdom before closing the state borders have returned to Europe. It was the first landing of a Polish commercial aircraft on Saudi soil in history.

Due to the current epidemiological situation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and bearing in mind safety of clients and employees, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Riyadh suspends the admission of Consular Department's clients starting from March 29th 2020 until further notice.

Due to the epidemiological threat of SARS-CoV-2 virus in the world, from March 16th 2020 until further notice, the Embassy of Poland in Riyadh introduces a number of changes in the way it functions.

On the March 1st – 2nd the 2nd Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum has taken place.

On the February 13th representative of the Embassy of Poland was attending the 3rd CGG-EU Trade and Investment Dialogue Meeting in Riyadh.
