During the ceremonial celebrations of Barbórka at the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Robert Rostek, was awarded the prestigious “Friend of the Wieliczka Salt Mine” medal. The distinction was granted by the Mine’s Management Board in recognition of the Ambassador’s commitment to strengthening relations between Poland and the Arab world, as well as promoting one of Poland’s most valuable cultural heritage attractions.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyka — highlighting the significance of Barbórka as a celebration of Polish mining tradition and the role the Wieliczka Salt Mine plays in promoting Poland on the international stage.

Ambassador Rostek expressed his gratitude for this exceptional honor, emphasizing that the Wieliczka Salt Mine is not only a symbol of Polish history and miners’ work but also a place where intercultural bridges are built.
