The Presidential Couple's Visit to Chicago March 1st to 3rd, 2025

The Presidential couple at the Polish Museum of America for Pulaski day with local Polonia organizations and Illinois State officials.

President Andrzej Duda and his wife visited Chicago on March 1-3, 2025. The Presidential Couple was accompanied by an official delegation and representatives of several media outlets from Poland. The official program of the visit included, among others things, a meeting with Polish Diaspora communities and participation in Pulaski Day celebrations organized by the Polish Museum of America. The Presidential Couple was accompanied during all points of the program by the Consul General of the Republic of Poland, Regina Jurkowska.

The Presidential Couple met with the Polish diaspora at the Copernicus Center in Chicago on March 2, 2025. The event was attended by approximately 1,400 people. During the meeting, state decorations and flags of the Republic of Poland were presented. During his speech, the President emphasized the role of the Polish diaspora in preserving Polish national identity and the strong position of the Polish diaspora in American society. He thanked the Polish diaspora for the support provided to Poland in various historical periods, including in the fight for Poland's freedom in 1989 and in the efforts to admit Poland to NATO in 1999. He appreciated the growing social and professional position of Poles in the USA, and emphasized Poland’s ambitions to join the G20 group. The President also referenced the support Poland had provided to Ukraine, especially after the outbreak of the war in 2022. In 2022 Poland was one of the first countries to provide Ukraine with comprehensive support, including military support. The President expressed gratitude for the solidarity and assistance shown to Ukraine in difficult times. He also touched upon the strong ties Poland and the United States has and cooperation with the US in the field of technology and defense. The President expressed his gratitude to the Polish diaspora for supporting him in the elections in 2015 and 2020 and during the 10 years of his presidency, encouraging them to participate in the upcoming presidential elections in Poland. The meeting ended with a performance by three Polish diaspora artistic groups: "Siumni", "Lajkonik" and "Polonia", which at the end sang "Marsz Polonia" together.

The Presidential Couple also participated in the annual Pulaski Day celebrations organized by the Polish Museum of America. The event on March 3, 2025 was attended by Polish and American communities. The Presidential Couple began their visit by making an entry in the guest book and then met with invited guests. In his speech, President Andrzej Duda emphasized the role and significance of General Casimir Pulaski in the history of Poland and the United States as a hero fighting for the freedom and sovereignty of both nations. He thanked the Polish community for commemorating the general and cultivating his legacy on American soil. He also expressed appreciation to the Polish Museum of America for documenting the history of Polish emigrants and the involvement and contribution of Poles to the historical history of the United States. He also thanked his compatriots living in the United States for their active involvement in Polish affairs and participation in the elections, and thanked state and city authorities for supporting the Polish community in the United States.

The visit of the Presidential Couple was widely reported by Polish and American media. Press, radio and television reports noted both the Polish and political aspects of the visit.
