On Sunday, July 6, 2025, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Caracas actively participated in the traditional Family Bike Ride organized at Isabel La Católica Square in the Chacao municipality, as part of the celebration of World Bicycle Day. The event was carried out in cooperation with the Chacao Municipality Office, with support from Fundación Zoom and the Chacao teams for Urban Mobility, Sports, and Culture, gathering dozens of cyclists. The ride took place as part of the conclusion of Road Safety Month in Chacao and actively promoted the bicycle as a healthy, eco-friendly, and accessible form of transportation for all. In addition to the ride itself, numerous accompanying activities were held, focused on road safety education. Participants had the opportunity to use VR goggles to experience the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Children enjoyed an educational space where they colored transport-themed drawings. The day concluded with a joint cardio kickboxing session.
During the opening ceremony, the Deputy Head of Mission at the Polish Embassy, Małgorzata Gromann, spoke about the significance of World Bicycle Day, officially celebrated since 2018 following an initiative by Polish sociologist Leszek Sibilski. She noted that the celebration originated from his article ""Cycling is Everyone’s Business,"" which contributed to recognizing the bicycle as a key tool for improving public health, social well-being, and quality of life in cities.
She also emphasized Poland’s commitment to promoting cycling as a means of caring for the environment and sustainable development, as well as a symbolic vehicle for building bonds between citizens and communities.
