Poland Promoted Its Language and Culture at the European Day of Languages in Caracas
27.09.2025
The European Day of Languages was celebrated on September 26, 2025, in Caracas with a broad and diverse cultural program under the motto “Echoes of Switzerland,” the event’s main sponsor. This marked the second edition of the celebration organized by the EUNIC Caracas cluster, made up of European cultural institutes present in Venezuela—the Goethe-Institut, the Alliance Française, and the Italian Cultural Institute—together with the embassies of Poland, France, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland, with the support of the Delegation of the European Union in Venezuela and the British Council.
The event took place throughout the day at the Goethe-Institut Caracas and was aimed at audiences of all ages. The program included free language classes, children’s storytelling sessions, panel discussions, poetry recitals, dramatized readings, dance presentations, performances, a collective mural featuring words in multiple languages, a “language aperitif,” and an open karaoke where participants could sing songs in different languages. In addition, a class dedicated to sign language was offered, promoted by the Delegation of the European Union in Venezuela. This edition also welcomed special guests such as the Yunus Emre Institute, which offered an introductory Turkish class, and the Embassy of Japan in Venezuela, which presented a traditional Japanese game.
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Venezuela had a prominent presence with an open Polish language class, a talk dedicated to reading Polish poetry from Venezuela, and an informational stand about Poland. At this stand, the public could engage through a memory game featuring emblematic places in the country. As a symbolic element of the day, notebooks designed in the format of a Swiss passport were created, allowing attendees to collect representative stamps from each stand; the Polish stamp featured the figure of the Warsaw Mermaid (Warszawska Syrenka) alongside the expression “Dzień Dobry.” The Polish language was also included in the collective mural and in the storytelling area with the book Little Chopin.
This celebration reaffirmed the value of multilingualism and cultural diversity as pillars of mutual understanding between European peoples and Venezuela, consolidating the European Day of Languages as a space for encounter, learning, and intercultural dialogue in the city of Caracas.
