A meaningful musical and educational program was held in Caracas to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, highlighting historical memory, peace, and cultural dialogue through music. The initiative featured the renowned Polish cellist Katharina Paslawski as its central figure, leading a series of activities in collaboration with Venezuelan musical institutions.
On September 11, Paslawski delivered a cello masterclass organized jointly with the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Symphony Orchestra and the Caracas String Academy. The activity fostered a valuable pedagogical exchange between the international soloist and young Venezuelan musicians.
The program concluded on September 13 with the concert entitled “Souls Without Borders,” held at the José Félix Ribas Hall of the Teresa Carreño Theatre. On this occasion, Katharina Paslawski performed as the invited international soloist and co-conducted the concert alongside Venezuelan conductor Elisa Vega, accompanied by the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Symphony Orchestra. The repertoire included the Overture for Orchestra by Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz, the Cello Concerto by Edward Elgar, and the Serenade for Strings by Antonín Dvořák. This selection of works underscored Poland’s spirit of solidarity and highlighted the value of Europe’s cultural diversity through the presence of Polish, British, and Czech composers.
The event featured remarks by the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Venezuela, Daniel Gromann, who emphasized that for the Polish people, the memory of war and the pursuit of peace must be universal and enduring, without temporal or geographical boundaries.
This initiative reaffirmed the role of music as a space for memory and collective reflection, as well as a bridge for cultural understanding between Poland, Europe, and Venezuela.
