Christmas carol concert in Albania
18.12.2025
On December 14, a festive concert of Polish and international Christmas carols organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland was held at St. Paul's Cathedral in Tirana, performed by the six-member vocal ensemble AdVocem from Warsaw.
AdVocem is a vocal ensemble bringing together singers, conductors, and a composer who share a passion for polyphonic a cappella music. The artists perform on a daily basis in leading Polish music ensembles such as the National Philharmonic Choir, the Polish Royal Opera Choir and the Łódź Philharmonic Choir, and their achievements include hundreds of concerts in Poland and abroad. AdVocem Ensemble operates under the auspices of the SonArtis Foundation.
The concert program included 17 Christmas carols, including 8 Polish songs, presented in original, innovative arrangements. The concert culminated with the Albanian song “Lule bore” composed by Simon Gjoni, sung by the choir in Albanian. The Polish version of the famous “Stille Nacht” and the Burgundian carol “Pat-a-pan” evoked a lot of positive emotions.
The concert was addressed both to the Albanian audience and to Poles living in Albania, and its aim was to present Polish musical culture associated with Christmas celebrations, as well as to integrate the Polish community. Among those gathered were representatives of the diplomatic corps with their families, representatives of universities and music schools in Tirana, clergy, including Archbishop of Tirana Arjan Dodaj, graduates of Polish universities, Polish priests, Poles working and living in Albania with their families.
The concert was complemented by a small reception organized by the Embassy, during which guests could share their impressions and exchange Christmas greetings over mulled wine and Christmas pastries.
