Joint project against disinformation

On December 3 and 4, 2025, a documentary film entitled "Conflict” premiered. The film, which focuses on the phenomenon of disinformation, foreign manipulation of information, and attempts to interfere with the information space in Albania, was produced by the Albanian fact-checking organization Faktoje with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tirana. The aim of the project was to raise public awareness and promote reliable, verified information, especially at a time when false narratives are spreading faster than ever.
Disinformation and FIMI are widespread phenomena not only in Albania but throughout the Western Balkans region. A common problem is the lack of education on disinformation techniques, verification, and critical evaluation of sources, coupled with widespread access to the Internet and the widespread use of social media. The Albanian fact-checking organization Faktoje, also a member of the Western Balkans Regional Network against Disinfo, produced and promoted a documentary film as part of the project, illustrating the scale and nature of disinformation and FIMI in Albania.
The aim of the activity was to create comprehensive, evidence-based and case study-based documentary material on these threats and to raise awareness of the impact of FIMI in Albania. The film provides an understanding of the directions of disinformation in the country, the key narratives used in it, including the role of Russian narratives reaching Albania, and presents the challenges facing the government and civil society in combating such threats. Produced with the participation of Albanian experts, the film provides educational value for both the Albanian public and international audiences.
