06.10.2026
On October 1, the opening of the second edition of the International Contemporary Art Biennale (BNABD) took place in Durrës. Wojciech Unolt, Chargé d'affaires of the Republic of Poland, attended the ceremony.
This year’s edition of the Biennale is held under the theme "Periphery: Visual Transitions". Poland is represented by Krzysztof Gil, an artist associated with Zachęta – National Gallery of Art. His exhibition, titled "The Forge" (*Kuźnia*), is on display at the Archaeological Museum in Durrës and is dedicated to the history, memory, and identity of the Roma community. The exhibition aligns with the Biennale’s theme by addressing issues of marginalization, exclusion, and the experiences of communities situated on the cultural and social periphery. Krzysztof Gil’s work was recognized by the Biennale jury, which awarded the artist second prize in the competition.
On October 3, a meeting with Krzysztof Gil was held at the Archaeological Museum in Durrës, during which the artist spoke about his exhibition, his body of work, and the inspirations behind the "The Forge" project. The event also provided an opportunity to engage with the audience and gain a deeper understanding of the concepts behind the presented installation.
