Visit to Kuçovë
21.11.2025
Chargé d'Affaires a.i. RP Wojciech Unolt, accompanied by Colonel Przemysław Bałut and Consul of the Republic of Poland Kamila Grzybowska-Kisiel, visited the Albanian town of Kuçova, where they paid tribute to the Polish geologist Stanisław Zuber by laying a wreath at his monument.
Professor Stanisław Zuber, a Polish geologist specializing in petroleum geology, as well as regional and raw material geology in Albania, remains an important symbol of Polish-Albanian friendship and scientific cooperation. He was associated with Kuҁova, where he lived in the 1930s and conducted geological research. His bust was unveiled by Bogdan Zdrojewski, Minister of Culture and National Heritage, in 2011.
During the visit, the head of mission, together with representatives of the embassy, met with representatives of local authorities, including the mayor of Kuçova, Kreshnik Hajdari. The talks with the mayor concerned the possibilities of cooperation, including the implementation of development projects for the local community, as well as the commemoration of Polish heritage in the region.
