Ceremony commemorating the participation of the 1st Polish Armoured Division of General Stanisław Maczek in the liberation of Belgium - Lommel, 27 September 2026

On 27 September 2026, a ceremony commemorating the participation of General Stanisław Maczek's 1st Polish Armoured Division in the liberation of Belgium will be held at the Polish Military Cemetery in Lommel, Limburg.
This year marks 82 years since those events. Many Polish soldiers lost their lives in the fighting, 257 of whom are buried at the Polish Military Cemetery in Lommel.
Each year, the Embassy of Poland in Brussels, together with the City of Lommel and the Association of Poles in Belgium, organises a ceremony to honour their memory, pay tribute to those who fell and pray for peace.
We warmly invite Poles living in Belgium and their Belgian friends to join us in Lommel and commemorate the Polish soldiers who took part in the liberation of Belgium.
The ceremony will be conducted in Polish and Dutch.
