Many of the events paid tribute to the Polish soldiers of the 1st Polish Armoured Division, who, led by General Stanisław Maczek, fought for freedom in around 60 Flemish towns and cities.

The event was organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Brussels, the City of Lommel, and the Union of Poles in Belgium.
