Situation beyond the eastern border

Close cooperation on the situation at the border.

On Thursday (18 November), Minister Mariusz Kamiński met in Warsaw with Horst Seehofer, the Minister of the Interior, Building and Community of the Federal Republic of Germany. The main topic discussed was the current situation on the Poland-Belarus border.

On 18 November, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki had two important conversations over the phone: with the Prime Minister of the Republic if Iraq, Mustafa al-Kadhimi, and with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani. Their main topic was the situation at the border between Poland and Belarus, where migrants who came from, among others, Iraq and, in larger numbers, the Kurdistan Region, are camped on the Belarusian side.

Minister Zbigniew Rau had a phone call with his Iranian counterpart who wanted to personally thank the people and government of Poland for 1 million doses of Astra Zeneca vaccines donated by Poland to Iran.

British engineering troops will support Polish troops with repair the temporary fence damaged on the Polish-Belarusian border. Today there was a meeting between Minister Mariusz Błaszczak and Ben Wallace, the UK Secretary of State Defence, where the details of this cooperation were discussed.

Undersecretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marcin Przydacz met in London on 18 November with James Cleverly, UK Secretary of State for the Middle East and North Africa, and Wendy Morton, UK Under Secretary of State for European Neighbourhood and the Americas.

Yesterday (November 17), aggressive, large groups of foreigners made several attempts to forcibly cross the border. One of them consisted of as many as 500 people.

Minister Zbigniew Rau had a phone call with his British counterpart on the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border and the use of migrants by the Belarusian regime to mount a hybrid attack against Poland and other NATO’s eastern flank countries.

“The governors of the border areas have started to pay out compensation. Payments are made in accordance with procedures, there are no delays in this matter. We will not leave entrepreneurs without state aid. All those who have applied according to the rules will receive compensation by the end of next week,” said Deputy Minister Paweł Szefernaker today (17 November).

The massive attack on the Polish border, which was another element in the hybrid aggression by the Lukashenka regime, was stopped.
