High-Level International Donors’ Conference for Ukraine - Thursday 5 May 2022 in Warsaw

05.05.2022

High level international Donor's conference for Ukraine

Co-hosted by H.E. Mr. Mateusz Morawiecki, Prime Minister of Poland and H.E. Ms. Magdalena Andersson, Prime Minister of Sweden, in partnership with H.E. Mr. Charles Michel, President of the European Council, and H.E. Ms. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, this conference will serve to mobilize substantial pledges to support the UN humanitarian response in Ukraine and to discuss further steps towards supporting Ukraine’s efforts to handle the economic challenges created by the war.

The conference takes place in the context of the humanitarian disaster caused by the Russian military invasion of Ukraine. The UN estimates that more than 12 million people are in need of urgent humanitarian aid, including food, medical supplies and shelter. The UN has scaled up to respond to the massive increase of needs and has set up local hubs to access the hardest-hit areas with life-saving assistance, deploying experts i.a. for coordination, community engagement, protection and information management. But much more is needed from the international community to respond to the rapidly rising needs. A revised UN appeal will be launched in mid-April.

The meeting will be convened at the heads of state and government level and will be held in a hybrid format, with the possibility of virtual participation. In-person attendance is strongly encouraged. Participation will be expected to be based on early confirmation of the intention to make a substantial financial pledge in response to Ukraine needs and in particular to the UN appeal at the conference. A formal invitation, registration guidelines and programme will follow shortly.
