Poland in the Council of Europe

On 16-17 November 2020, the third edition of the ministerial conference on advancing freedom of religion or belief was held, with participation of the representatives of states, international organisation, including the Council of Europe, and the NGOs.

“As the Commander-in-Chief of the Polish Army, I hereby notify belligerent and neutral governments and nations of the existence of an Independent Polish State, within all the territories of the united Poland” – with these words Józef Piłsudski addressed the heads of world powers and notified them about the formation of the Second Polish Republic.

In the plenary discussion, Minister Rau indicated that the challenges related to COVID-19 cannot be a pretext for a permanent limitation of human rights, democracy and the rule of law. He also stressed the need for the Council to support the democratic aspirations of Belarusian society
