Poland in Cyprus

On January 27 - the anniversary of the release of prisoners of the German Auschwitz-Birkenau camp – the world commemorates the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The memorial day was established by the resolution of the UN General Assembly in 2005 to preserve the memory of Jews murdered during World War II.

As endorsed by the Foreign Ministries of Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, United Kingdom and the United States on 20 December 2023, the Tallinn Mechanism officially formalized.

On December 17, at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Nicosia, a Christmas meeting was held for Poles living in Cyprus, their Cypriot families and friends.

On November 11, the Polish Embassy in Nicosia organized a musical concert to celebrate National Independence Day. The event, held at Arte Music Academy, was attended by representatives of the Polish community and Cypriot guests.

On 31 October 2023, the Ambassador Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Marek Szczepanowski, presented his letters of credence to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Nikos Christodoulides.

On September 27 2023, the Language Center of the University of Cyprus organized a "Language Fair" on the occasion of the European Day of Languages.

Due to the celebration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, including the Consular Section, will be closed on 15th August (Tuesday).

On the occasion of the Corpus Christi, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, including the Consular Section, will be closed on 8th June (Thursday).

As part of the Polish Heritage Days 2023, traditionally celebrated in May, we remind you about the achievements of Polish archaeological missions, whose almost 60-year presence on the island is the best example of Polish contribution to cultural life of Cyprus and has a special meaning for the relations between the two countries.

In the morning the Speaker of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland met with the Minister of the Interior, Mr Constantinos Ioannou with whom she exchanged views on the migration situation in both countries.
