Goals

The aim of the project is to generate knowledge about the energy usage and energy efficiency potential in SMEs, and propose solutions and tools for raising awareness on energy management, including encouraging companies to implement energy audits. The study and analysis will provide information for further needed action by policymakers, especially regarding the development tools and incentives for enterprises. The package on awareness raising will include the results of this study as well as guidance on existing policy and instruments which will support energy efficiency improvement. This will result in an increase of the number of performed energy audits in enterprises, an increased number of investments in energy efficiency improvements and a further development of the energy services market, including the strengthening of ESCO companies. The action will thereby help achieving the energy efficiency targets set for 2020 and 2030.
The specific objectives of the project are:

  • Improvement of knowledge of policymakers and public administration on the energy efficiency potential in SMEs in Poland, on effective and innovative instruments to tailor future support for SMEs in the area of energy efficiency, and on concrete policy actions that could be taken to improve energy efficiency in SMEs
  • Increased awareness of SMEs on energy efficiency issues, including possibilities of energy audit/self-audit and financing of energy efficient measures

This will be achieved by supporting the national authorities in enhancing their capacity to formulate, develop and implement reform policies and strategies and in pursuing an integrated approach ensuring consistency between goals and means across sectors; in line with Article 5(1) of the SRSP Regulation.
