European Space Policy - perspectives for business

Organized at the conference center of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the EU, the event was an opportunity to debate the European space policy and the benefits of developing this industry for Polish and European competitiveness. The event gathered many Aerospace sector experts and was opened by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the EU Andrzej Sadoś.
Representatives of the European as well as national space agencies, aerospace associations, European institutions, companies and experts from EU Member States all contributed towards the discussions. The event, thanks to its interactive formula combining presentations and workshops, was a unique opportunity for a direct exchange of views with specialists from both the world of business and science, as well as decision-makers responsible for shaping European space policy.
The aforementioned experts presented the directions of EU policy regarding the space sector in the context of business opportunities created by EU programs and initiatives aimed at supporting research and development, offering financing as well as the implementation and building of space systems, applications and infrastructure, in particular under the new EU financial perspective 2021-2027, i.e. the EU Space Program, the Horizon Europe, as well as demonstrating synergies between the various EU initiatives.
The next segment focused on presenting the potential and capabilities of the Polish space sector, which contributed to establishing relationships between the Polish business community and the decision-makers shaping the EU legal framework and implementation instruments.
The event was a response to the request from the Polish space sector in connection with its recent dynamic development, desire to expand and strengthen its participation in EU programs, especially in the context of the new comprehensive EU Space Program to be launched in 2021.
Additionally, thanks to the cooperation with the European Commission (DG GROW), the participants of the event were able to view large-format satellite images taken by the European earth observation system Copernicus and the model of a satellite used by the European navigation system Galileo.
Poland's Perm Rep's to the EU partners for the event were: SPACE PL, Lewiatan, National Contact Point for Research Programmes of the EU, The Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology, The Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Industrial Development Agency, POLSA and BSP.
