The concert was the result of cooperation between the Polish Embassy in Athens and the Athens Municipality and was part of the "This is Athens City Festival" and the artistic setting of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council. Cellist Dobrawa Czocher and pianist Natalia Czekała on synthesizers, played for the first time for the Athenian audience at the Roman Agora, one of the most evocative places under the Athenian Acropolis. Cultural events take place there only once a year, which emphasizes the exceptional nature of this concert.

Dobrawa Czocher is an internationally renowned cellist who has been performing and winning awards as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral artist for years. Dobrawa passionately explores new dimensions of the cello sound – masterfully combining classical and contemporary music. As a leading figure on the contemporary classical scene, she has released two albums with the renowned pianist Hania Rani, with whom she has toured extensively around the world. In 2023, Dobrawa Czocher released her debut solo album “Dreamscapes” featuring her own compositions for cello. In the same year, the album was nominated in six categories for the prestigious German Opus Klassik award. During her performance in Athens, the artist played pieces from this album as well as new compositions. The unique atmosphere of the concert was created also by Natalia Czekała, a pianist, composer and vocalist, who accompanied Dobrawa on keyboards.

The evening was opened by the Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, who thanked the Embassy for co-organizing this exceptional concert. In turn, the head of the Polish diplomatic mission, Wojciech Ponikiewski, referred to Polish-Greek cultural ties and expressed hope that these relations will develop in all areas, because it is the best vehicle for building true friendship between nations.
