The World Urban Forum (WUF) is the world’s largest conference devoted to urban challenges, urban policy and sustainable urbanization. It is the most important global event focusing on the key challenges faced by cities and urban areas in every part of the world.

Today, Poland has started its one-year Chairmanship at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Thus, our country is assuming a greater role in shaping security and stabilisation on the European continent in the spirit of the Helsinki Final Act, whose 50th anniversary we will be celebrating in 2025.

40 years ago in Poland, martial law was introduced. More than 10 000 opposition activists, mainly of the #Solidarność were imprisoned. In the period between 1981-1989, about 100 people were murdered, hundreds were sentenced in political trials and forced to emigration.
