The Publishing House of the University of Warsaw issued a book entitled "Freedom or Death. Polish Philhellenes and the Greek Uprising of 1821. Today, Poland has started its one-year Chairmanship at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). 40 years ago in Poland, martial law was introduced. More than 10 000 opposition activists, mainly of the #Solidarność were imprisoned. In the period between 1981-1989, about 100 people were murdered, hundreds were sentenced in political trials and forced to emigration.

Piotr Domalewski's Polish teen film "I Never Cry", a bittersweet drama that explores the intricacies of family relationships depicting the bleak landscape of present Europe, won the Best Picture Award of the 24th Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Youth.
