Poland in Greece

On February 14th at the Polish School Zygmunt Mineyko in Athens took place the grand opening of the historical exhibition “In the footsteps of Sienkiewicz”, dedicated to the life and work of the Polish Nobel Prize winner, Henryk Sienkiewicz.

Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange has recently announced the call for proposals in the scholarship programme for young people of Polish decent from around the world.

January 27 is celebrated in Greece as the Remembrance Day of the Greek Holocaust Victims. On this occasion, commemorating ceremonies took place in Athens and Thessaloniki.

The President of Poland on the 75th Anniversary of Liberation of the Nazi German Death Camp KL Auschwitz. On January 27, 1945, Soviet soldiers liberated the German Nazi death camp KL Auschwitz. What they found there continues to sow terror and elicit unequivocal moral condemnation to this day.

The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange Program's objective is teaching and promoting Polish language and culture abroad via allowing foreign students and foreigners who are teachers of Polish language at the universities to participate in several-week long courses of the Polish language and culture organized in Poland.

“The Sejm of the Republic of Poland condemns the provocative and untrue statements by representatives of the highest authorities of the Russian Federation attempting to hold Poland liable for the Second World War. A nation’s greatness and international relations may not be built upon lies and by falsifying history,” reads the resolution adopted by acclamation on 9th of January.

The ceremonial signing of the Letter of Intent regarding the establishment of a Polish language course at Aristotle University took place on 8 November in Thessaloniki. The signatories of the Letter are: from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań - Rector prof. Andrzej Lesicki, from the side of Aristotle University - Rector prof. Nikolaos Papaioannou, and on the part of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Athens - Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Tomasz Wiśniewski.

The exhibition “Fighting and Suffering. Polish citizens during World War II” prepared by the Museum of Second World War in Gdańsk in cooperation with the Polish MFA is presented at the War Museum in Tripoli from October 19th to 31st.

Olga Tokarczuk, Polish writer and activist, won the Nobel Prize in Literature for “a narrative imagination that with encyclopedic passion represents the crossing of boundaries as a form of life.”
