Polish band EABS at Athens Jazz Festival
29.05.2025
The Wrocław based jazz quintet EABS, or Electro-Acoustic Beat Sessions, will perform in Technopolis on Saturday, May 31, at 10 p.m.
The band, which grew up in the hip-hop scene, was founded in 2011 by Piotr Skorupski. They made their debut in May 2017 with the album Repetitions (Letters to Krzysztof Komeda) and were immediately nominated for the "Fryderyk" award for best jazz debut. In 2023, they won the "Fryderyk" award for best world album. For years, EABS has been redefining the boundaries of the genre, combining jazz with hip-hop, funk and electronics, creating sounds that not only refreshed the Polish music scene, but also inspired a whole new wave of young bands. The band consists of:
Marek Pędziwiatr – piano, synthesizers and vocals
Marcin Rak – drums
Paweł Stachowiak – bass guitar
Olaf Węgier – tenor saxophone
Jakub Kurek – trumpet
From May 26 to June 1, Technopolis in Athens will fill with sound, rhythm and jazz energy. For a week, 21 bands from 19 different countries will perform on stage. Athens Jazz, the largest jazz festival in the city, will reveal the most subversive side of jazz during its 24th edition. This year's event is dedicated to the memory of the recently deceased music journalist and festival collaborator Giorgos Charonitis, who supported Athens Jazz from the very beginning with his knowledge and passion for music and made a decisive contribution to shaping its artistic identity.
The EABS concert will be held with the support of the Polish Embassy in Athens.
