Since the outbreak of the crisis, 9 to 11 Polish Border Guard officers have been serving on the border as part of the Frontex Rapid mission, supported by 20 EU Member States. This mission will end on October 31, 2020. Polish officers  constituted 10% of the total Frontex mission in the region.

The purpose of the Ambassador's visit was to thank Polish officers and to emphasize the support given to Greece during the most difficult period of the year. The visit was also an opportunity to recall the broader support that the Polish Border Guard provides for the protection of Greek borders. The total commitment of the Polish side in 2020 was 120 officers. The Greek side has repeatedly emphasized the importance of the participation of Polish officers in the mission, highly appreciating their commitment, professionalism and equipment.
