Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland in the Islamic Republic of Iran

Maciej Fałkowski holds a law degree from Catholic University of Lublin and a postgraduate diploma in Alternative Dispute Resolution (University of Toronto, 2007). He also accomplished  two-year Executive MBA programme with  Warsaw University of Technology Business School (2009) and a PhD studies in economics at  Warsaw School of Economics (2013).

He began his career with  Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998, in 1999 and 2000 he worked in the embassy in Oslo as well as Permanent Representation to the UN and OSCE in Vienna. In the Security Policy Department he was the head of the unit for exports control and disarmament. Between 2000 and 2003 he worked as a foreign policy expert in governmental programmes for international arms purchases, including the Offsets Agreements Committee.

Vice Consul in Toronto from 2003 to 2007. Between 2007 and 2013, he was responsible for conventional disarmament policy and export control regimes. He led the Polish delegation in negotiations of  the Arms Trade Treaty, the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW), and the Ottawa Convention. He took part in the Wassenaar Agreement's control regime works.

During 2013-2014, he served as the deputy director of the Asia and Pacific Department responsible for  relations with India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Following that he held the position of deputy director of Economic Cooperation Departament  with responsibilities covering markets in  Asia as well as the Polish membership in the OECD. In 2018 he became the  director of this Department . In 2017  he was appointed by the Prime Minister to the Council of Polish Space Agency. On 8th June 2019, he was nominated the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Iran. He presented his credentials to President Hasan Rouhani on 17th June 2019. He can speak English, French, and German.

The Polish President has rewarded him with a silver medal for lengthy service. He is married with one child.
