Polish Pavilion at Malta Biennale 2026 Now Open!
12.03.2026
The Polish Pavilion at Malta Biennale 2026 has officially opened, presenting the exceptional project "Archive of Hesitations” by Weronika Zalewska, curated by Ada Piekarska.
Video Installation in the 24/7 Era
This year’s edition of the Pavilion showcases innovative contemporary art within the international context of the biennale, combining reflections on the information age with artistic narrative and an interactive exhibition space.
The video installation “Archive of Hesitations” explores how knowledge, memory, and political imagination are shaped in an era of constant information available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The artist demonstrates that in a world of instant responses, hesitation can become a gesture of resistance. The installation invites viewers to reflect on the pace of contemporary life and the role of contemplation and restraint in the decision-making process.
Organization and Collaboration
The Polish Pavilion is organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, which has long supported Poland’s presence at international art events. The exhibition is co-organized by Galeria Bielska BWA (Bielsko-Biała Contemporary Art Gallery) and the Embassy of Poland in Valletta, with TVP Kultura (Polish Television Culture Channel) and Wytwórnia Filmów Oświatowych (Polish Educational Film Studio) as partners. The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland and the City of Bielsko-Biała – Polish Capital of Culture 2026.
Location and Duration
The Polish Pavilion is located in the historic Fort St Elmo in Valletta and will be open to the public until 29 May 2026. This is a unique opportunity to experience innovative Polish contemporary art in the context of an international biennale.
We invite you to visit the Pavilion and immerse yourself in a reflective space where hesitation becomes an artistic gesture of resistance.
