Opening of the Polish Pavilion at the Art Biennale

The delegation participated in the official opening of the Polish pavilion “Archive of Hesitations” by Weronika Zalewska, curated by Ada Piekarska from the BWA Bielska Gallery, as part of the Malta Biennale. The Polish National Pavilion was organised by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the BWA Bielska Gallery, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Valletta. The ceremony was attended by Ms Olga Wysocka, Director of the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, and the Mayor of Bielsko-Biała. The pavilion is located at Fort St. Elmo in Valletta and represents an important presentation of contemporary Polish art on the international stage.

Additional Cultural Engagements

The delegation also visited the OmenaArt Foundation thematic pavilion titled “Redefining. Polish-Ghanaian Textile Narratives,” which presents a cross-cultural dialogue through textile art.

Commemoration of Polish History in Malta

During the visit, the delegation went to the Maritime Cemetery in Kalkara, where they lit candles at the graves of Polish airmen and sailors who lost their lives in Malta during the Second World War. They also laid flowers at the commemorative plaque in Valletta dedicated to thirteen Polish sailors who died in 1942 aboard the ORP Kujawiak.

The visit provided an opportunity to highlight the importance of cultural cooperation between Poland and Malta, as well as to pay tribute to the shared historical heritage.
