    General Rajmund T. Andrzejczak, who leads the Polish Armed Forces, is running for the position of the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee. The Polish Government officially recommended him to chair this highest military body of the Alliance. The result of the competition will be known in September following the voting by chiefs of defence of all NATO countries. The new Chairman will assume his duties in the summer of 2021.

    The US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo and the Minister of National Defence, Mariusz Błaszczak signed an agreement on defense cooperation, on August 15th . The signing ceremony took place in Warsaw in the Presidential Palace in the presence of the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda.

    - Today we have confirmed the decision announced by the US Secretary of Defence Marek Esper, the decision to establish in Poland the forward headquarters of the V Corps. This is a decision that crowns our efforts to increase the presence of US troops in Poland. (...)     An agreement on enhanced defence cooperation between Poland and the US has been politically agreed. This will facilitate further deepening of military cooperation, including the increase in the presence of US soldiers in Poland. Soon, after the editorial work is finished, the contract is to be signed.

    - On a daily basis, Polish and German soldiers train together, and together with our friends from Denmark we have organized and run the Corps HQ in Szczecin. Germany is the framework nation in Lithuania for eFP battlegroup. Therefore, there are many both bilateral and multilateral, in the framework of the European Union, as well as in the format of the North Atlantic Alliance, common relations that provide a strong basis for our countries to be secure, said Mariusz Błaszczak after the meeting with the head of the German Ministry of Defence.

    From July 14 to Aug. 23 as part of Dynamic Force Employment, an American armored unit will deploy to Europe. Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise is a US Department of Defense-directed, strategic deployment designed to test the Army’s ability to rapidly alert and deploy around the globe. The exercise will test the US strategic readiness to support the European allies.

Together we are developing a defense system that guarantees security not only for Poland and Slovakia, but also for the entire eastern flank of NATO. An exercise that was a challenge and which proved the great capabilities and skills of the Polish and US soldiers. It was a challenge when it came to deployment of troops from the US to Europe and then to Poland. It was a logistical challenge, which turned out to be an excellently passed exam - said Mariusz Błaszczak, Minister of National Defence during a meeting with Polish and US soldiers.
