"The United States plan to increase its current military presence in Poland, amounting now to approximately 4,500 rotating military personnel. This permanent presence will increase in the near future by about 1000 additional soldiers and will focus on providing additional defence and deterrence capabilities in Poland." This entry was included in the declaration signed today by Polish President Andrzej Duda and US President Donald Trump.

- We are finishing the first stage of negotiations related to strengthening of the US presence in Poland - this is the culmination of the first stage. We will be fulfilling the decision that the Presidents of Poland and the United States will take, and it will bring good results in terms of the defence capabilities of the Polish Armed Forces and the security of Poland - said Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defence after meeting with Ambassador John Bolton, adviser on security to the US President.

- Soon Poland will join the elite group of states whose air forces have the most modern F-35 aircraft. I want this process to proceed quickly and effectively - said Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of National Defence after meeting the command of the Eglin Air Force base in Florida and the F-35 pilots.

- A holy mass at the grave of Saint John Paul II and a meeting at the Monte Cassino cemetery, a cemetery of Polish soldiers who died fighting for Poland, are events that we will remember for years. The presence in this places, in Rome and Monte Cassino, is proof that we remember and want to remember and that these figures and these events constitute a very important element of our national identity - said Mariusz Błaszczak, Minister of National Defence on Saturday in Rome.

Joint implementation of programs aimed at exchange of experiences between Polish and US military universities was the main topic of talks between Deputy Defence Minister Tomasz Zdzikot and Arnold Chacon, vice-president of National Defense University.

On March 12, 1999, Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary were the first countries from the former Eastern Bloc to join NATO. In 2019, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of Poland's membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.
