A Historic Run at Al Udeid Base to Celebrate Poland's Independence Day

19.11.2025

Al Udeid

On 18 November 2025, for the first time in history, Poland’s Independence Day was celebrated in a sporting format at the US–Qatari military base in Al Udeid, where the Embassy and soldiers of the Polish Military Contingent organised the Poland’s Independence Day Run.

The initiative generated remarkable interest, bringing together over 700 soldiers. The run was attended by the Ambassador of Poland, Tomasz Sadziński, who welcomed the participants together with his spouse, the Consul of Poland, and members of the Embassy staff.

As part of its contribution, the Embassy designed and financed commemorative T-shirts for the first group of runners. At the end of the event, the Ambassador presented gifts to 30 volunteers responsible for ensuring the safety of the participants throughout the run.

The event was made possible thanks to the exceptional engagement of Polish soldiers, who took the initiative, coordinated organisational aspects, and designed and distributed promotional posters across the base.

This was the first time in the history of Al Udeid that a run commemorating the national holiday of a country other than the United States was organised.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Polish soldiers for their outstanding initiative and cooperation.

We also thank all participants for their enthusiasm and for making the event a memorable sporting celebration!
