Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Wojciech Zajączkowski visits Qatar

On 15–16 July 2026, Wojciech Zajączkowski, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, paid a visit to Qatar.
The main purpose of the visit was to convey, on behalf of the authorities of the Republic of Poland, condolences to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, following the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Amir’s father and ruler of Qatar from 1995 to 2013.
During his stay in Qatar the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also gave an interview to Al Jazeera. The discussion focused on the legacy of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, his contribution to the development of regional and international diplomacy, and Qatar’s continued role as an active participant in dialogue, mediation and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
The programme of the visit also included a meeting with Professor Mehran Kamrava, a faculty member at Georgetown University in Qatar and a recognised expert on Middle Eastern and Gulf politics. The discussion concerned the most important political and security developments in the region.
The Deputy Minister was accompanied by Przemysław Niesiołowski, Deputy Director of the Department of Africa, the Middle East and South America at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The visit was an expression of Poland’s solidarity with the authorities and people of Qatar during the period of mourning. It also reaffirmed the importance of Polish-Qatari relations and the readiness of both countries to continue developing their cooperation.
