02.10.2022Polish-Qatari cooperation in the field of high technologies is becoming a factAs a result of the contacts initiated with the participation of the Polish Embassy in Doha, a Memorandum of Understanding between Qatar University and the Polish company Specter Solutions was signed today. The agreement concerns cooperation in the development of drone technologies. The Polish company hopes to implement joint projects not only in Qatar, but also in the entire region. The memorandum simultaneously opens the way to wider cooperation in the field of new technologies with Polish universities. The first contacts with the Warsaw University of Technology have already been established. On the Qatari side, the MoU was officially signed by the vice-dean of Engineering College, which currently educates about 4500 students in several engineering fields. Janusz Janke, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, who participated in the ceremony, assured of the Embassy’s continuous support for the joint activities in the Hi-Tech area. The Ambassador took the opportunity to invite the collaborating parties to the next edition of the Polish-Qatar New Tech Forum.

21.09.2022Growing interest in Qatar among Polish touristsThe Polish office of Qatar Airways, in cooperation with Discover Qatar, organized a visit to Qatar for representatives of 8 travel agencies: Primapol, Planet Escape, Flugo, ITAKA, Nekera, Ecco Holiday, Rainbow Tours, Exim Tours. During their stay in Qatar the tour operators representatives had the opportunity to get acquainted with the tourist offer of the country. On 21st September they visited the Polish Embassy in Doha. The guest of the Polish Ambassador unanimously confirmed the growing interest among Polish tourists in the destination. For Polish travellers interested in relaxation, culture, sport and recreation, Qatar is able to offer a variety of attractions. Interest in the destination will certainly increase even more due to the organization of the FIFA 2022 World Cup in the country. The cooperation and the meeting with the Polish Embassy was initiated by the Qatar Poland Business Council.

20.09.2022Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Doha meets Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Abdullah Al Thani, Minister of Industry and Trade of QatarThe purpose of the meeting, on 20th September, was to summarize the economic initiatives and the current level of economic relations between the Republic of Poland and the State of Qatar, as well as to discuss mutual plans for the near future in the field. The Polish envoy talked about the economic initiatives of the Polish side so far, which aimed at developing ties between companies. He touched upon frequent editions of the Economic Round Table, the New Tech Forum and brought up the agreements signed before and during the visit of the President of the Republic of Poland between the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) and Digital Poland Foundation with their corresponding Qatari partners. He also mentioned the main Polish sectors interested in cooperation with Qatari market (energy, high technologies, Agri-tech, defence, financial and investment industries). Minister Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani confirmed his willingness to further develop economic ties based on the excellent current political relations which were crowned with the official visit of the President of the Republic of Poland (December 2021).

12.09.2022Ambassador of the Republic of Poland meets Deputy Police Commander in ChiefOn 12th September 2022 Mr Janusz Janke, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Qatar met maj. gen. Roman Kuster, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Police. The meeting, held at the Police Headquarters, was an occasion to discuss the involvement of Polish police forces in securing the FIFA 2022 World Cup. In order to ensure safety during the tournament, the organizer of the World Cup cooperates with the police forces of all the countries whose teams qualified for the tournament. Polish officers invited to Qatar will monitor the situation during the matches of the Polish national team. The meeting of the Ambassador with the Deputy Police Commander in Chief was also aimed at the exchange of up-to-date knowledge on the organizational issues related to the World Cup FIFA 2022.

06.09.2022Minister Krzysztof Szubert appointed to serve on the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) Leadership PanelOn 16th August the United Nations announced the composition of the IGF Leadership Panel. The UN Secretary General appointed Minister Krzysztof Szubert, Plenipotentiary of the Prime Minister for European digital policy and Poland's Plenipotentiary for the UN Digital Summit - IGF 2021, to work on the Panel for a period of two years (term 2022-2023).

08.08.2022Visit to the headquarters of the Qatari Coast GuardMr. Janusz Janke, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, paid a visit to the headquarters of the Qatari Coast Guard, where he was received by the unit commander Gen. Brig. Nasser Jabor Al Naimi (currently Major General). During the meeting, Polish-Qatari cooperation was discussed, especially the training of subsequent groups of Qatari cadets at the Naval Academy in Gdynia. In a conversation with the Ambassador, General Al Naimi emphasized that he was extremely pleased with the cooperation with the Naval Academy in Gdynia so far, and expressed hope for the further development of the collaboration.
