Poland in Qatar

The prize pool of My Internet of the Future, the competition organised as part of the UN Internet Governance Forum #IGF 2021, is PLN 78,000. Submissions are open by 8 October. IGF2021 is the most important international conference of recent years. Key decisions on the governance and further development of the Internet will be made during this event.

On August 27 the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia held a solemn graduation ceremony of awarding diplomas to eight cadets from the State of Qatar. This is the second group of alumni from the State of Qatar.

The first call of the INNOGLOBO programme was launched on 1 July 2021 and the application deadline is 30 November 2021. Under this programme, it will be possible to start financing projects carried out by international consortia, in which Polish entities have no restrictions in selecting partners from abroad. Foreign partners can come from all countries with which Poland maintains diplomatic ties, except for those countries with which NCBR regularly launches bilateral calls for R&D projects, i.e. China, Israel, Luxembourg, Germany and Turkey.

Culture.pl, the largest website dedicated to Polish culture, established and run by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, celebrates its 20th birthday. The portal is a reliable source of knowledge about Polish culture at home and abroad.

On 30 June H.E. Mr. Janusz Janke paid a visit to the Hamad Port, where he met the CEO of Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar), Captain Abdulla Al Khanji, accompanied by the CEO of Qterminals, Mr. Nevill Bissett. The talks concerned the Polish-Qatari cooperation in the maritime sector in the areas of such as infrastructure, logistics and ports’ management.

On 17 June H.E. Mr. Janusz Janke met Mr. Abdullah Hassan Al Khater, Vice-President of Barzan Holdings, a company fully owned by the Qatari armed forces with key roles in three areas: investment, research and development, and strategic defense procurement. The purpose of the meeting was to present the offer of Polish companies in the sector as well as to analyze possibilities for bilateral cooperation.

On 2 June H.E. Mr. Janusz Janke, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, met general major Abdulaziz bin Faisal bin Mohamed Al Thani, the commander of internal security forces Lekhwiya. The discussions concerned the cooperation between the two countries in the field of security, prospects for its development as well as the preparations of the World Football Championships FIFA 2022 in Qatar.

Due to the Corpus Cristi holiday the Embassy shall be closed on 2 June. The Embassy will reopen on Sunday, 6 June.

On May 26th H.E. Mr. Janusz Janke met with the President of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Nasser Turki Al Subaey. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the aspects of current Polish-Qatari cooperation in the field of civil aviation and the prospects for its further development.
