Poland in Qatar

The Embassy has the pleasure to inform that to support the global response to COVID-19 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland has launched the Anti-Covid business platform, which allows businesses from around the globe to learn about the products and solutions of Polish entrepreneurs and researchers supporting the response to the coronavirus crisis.

Adopted on 3 May 1791 in Warsaw by the Sejm of the Polish Republic (later known as the Great Sejm), the Polish Constitution was Europe’s first and the world’s second modern constitution.

On 10 April 2010, a special TU-154M plane with the President of Poland Lech Kaczyński and the First Lady Maria Kaczyńska on board took off from Warsaw to Smolensk. On that very day the members of the official delegation were to participate in the ceremonies taking place in the Katyn War Cemetery, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the crime committed there. The aircraft carried 96 people, including members of the highest state authorities, representatives of various social circles and religious denominations, high-ranking military commanders and the plane’s crew. All the flight passengers died in the air disaster which took place during landing at the airport near Smolensk.

Due to the spread of coronavirus in Qatar, to safeguard the wellbeing of customers and employees, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland has suspended, from 16 March until further notice, all consular appointments.

We would like to inform that due to the coronavirus threat the Polish Government decided to temporarily, for 10 days for land borders and 14 days for passenger air traffic, close down the Polish borders for foreigners from 15 March onwards. Polish citizens returning to Poland will be quaranteened for 14 days at home.

On 18 February the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the State of Qatar, Mr. Janusz Janke, paid a visit to the Al Udeid Air Base to learn about the activities and tasks of the Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC).

The aim of The Ulam Programme 2020 is to help foreign researchers to develop their careers at Polish higher education institutions, scientific units or research institutes.

On 4 February H.E. Ambassador Janusz Janke met with Ahmed M. Al Sayed, minister of the State, President of the Qatar Free Zone Authority at the headquarters of the Qatar Free Zone Authority (QZFA). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss further development of economic cooperation between Poland and Qatar, in particular in the area of investment.

On 26 January the embassy, in cooperation with the Qatari branch of the Valustrat company, assisted in organizing a visit to Doha of Mr. Tomasz Puch, the director of the Office and Capital Real Estate Department at Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL).

On January 27, 1945, Soviet soldiers liberated the German Nazi death camp KL Auschwitz. What they found there continues to sow terror and elicit unequivocal moral condemnation to this day.
