Polish Armed Forces Day
15.08.2026
On 15 August, we celebrate Polish Armed Forces Day, which brings together respect for Poland’s military heritage and recognition of today’s soldiers, who safeguard the security and independence of the Republic of Poland.
The date was chosen to commemorate the victory in the Battle of Warsaw in 1920, achieved 106 years ago. On the outskirts of the capital, including at Radzymin and Ossów, the Polish Army halted the Red Army’s offensive, turning the tide of the Polish-Soviet War. This success safeguarded Poland’s recently regained independence and had a significant impact on the future of Europe. It was made possible by the courage of the soldiers, sound decisions by the military command and the mobilization of society.
On this occasion, we extend our appreciation and best wishes to all soldiers and civilian personnel of the Polish Armed Forces. We also pay tribute to the heroes of 1920, remembering their courage, sacrifice and service to their homeland.
