Polish Presence at the Qatar Economic Forum

The 5th edition of the Qatar Economic Forum, organized by Bloomberg, took place in Doha from 20th to 22nd May. This year’s edition, held under the theme “The Road to 2030: Transforming the Global Economy”, was opened by Michael Bloomberg, co-founder and co-owner of Bloomberg, as well as the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
At the initiative of the Polish Embassy and with its substantial support, the following delegations participated in the forum:
• The Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, led by Marcin Mastalerek, Secretary of State and Head of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Poland.
• The Polish Development Fund (PFR S.A.), led by President Piotr Matczuk. On 19th and 20th May the Polish Embassy organized meetings for the delegation with the leadership of main Qatari development institutions: Qatar Development Bank, Qatar Free Zones, Doha Venture Capital, Qatar Investment Authority, Barzan Holdings, Qatar Financial Center, and Invest Qatar. Additionally, the delegation visited the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and on 10th May participated in a networking meeting Polish professionals working in Qatar (50 participants).
• Representatives of Polish businesses, as well as the Council of Global Polish Entrepreneurs.
On 21st May the Embassy arranged the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Council of Global Polish Entrepreneurs and the Qatari Businessmen Association. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of the Head of Mission of the Republic of Poland to the State of Qatar at the headquarters of the Qatari organization, which was founded and is chaired by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Qatar’s second wealthiest individual according to Forbes. In addition, Polish companies held numerous B2B meetings.
