Visit of MP Paweł Kowal, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland

From 7 to 9 December, MP Paweł Kowal, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, paid a visit to Doha. The purpose of the visit was to participate in the international conference Doha Forum 2025, held under the theme “Justice in Action: Beyond Promises to Progress.” One of the key topics of discussion was Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, including efforts aimed at achieving a just peace to bring the war to an end.
In addition, the Embassy arranged meetings for Chairman Kowal with Mohammed bin Mahdi Al Hbabbi, Head of the Qatari-European Friendship Group in the Qatari Consultative Council; Fahad Hamad Al Sulaiti, Director of the Qatar Fund for Development; and Hamad bin Khamis Al Kubaisi, Deputy Head of the National Security Council. The meetings focused on bilateral cooperation as well as humanitarian assistance and the reconstruction of Ukraine.
This year’s edition of the event brought together nearly 6,000 participants from 150 countries. Among the guests were representatives of numerous governments and organisations, including the Presidents of Syria, Ghana and Somalia, as well as the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Norway, Egypt, Nigeria, Turkey, Yemen and Liberia. The event also saw a record-large delegation of European Union institutions, headed by Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission. The several-dozen-member delegation also included Olof Skögg, Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service for Political Affairs, and Luigi Di Maio, EU Special Representative for the Gulf.
