From 5 to 9 December 2025, Wojciech Zajączkowski, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, paid a visit to Doha. The main purpose of the visit was to conduct working consultations with regional partners on the occasion of Doha Forum 2025. These were held with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Yemen and Liberia, as well as with Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dr Majed Al Ansari, Adviser to the Prime Minister and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Saeed Khatibzadeh, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran; and Mehran Kamrava, Director of the Iran Studies Unit at the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies. The meetings provided an opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation as well as regional issues.
Minister Wojciech Zajączkowski also spoke as a panellist in the session entitled “The Road to Ceasefire: A Durable Peace in Ukraine.” In his remarks, he underlined the importance of genuine engagement by the international community in ensuring lasting and just security in the region, as well as in shaping the diplomatic architecture leading to an end to the war. He pointed to the need for concrete steps towards de-escalation of the conflict. In addition, the senior official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland gave interviews to Al Jazeera English and The Peninsula newspaper, which aimed, inter alia, to present Poland’s position on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.
The event was also attended by MP Paweł Kowal, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, for whom the Embassy arranged meetings concerning humanitarian assistance and the reconstruction of Ukraine. With the support of the Embassy, experts from the Centre for Eastern Studies, the Centre for International Relations, and the Casimir Pulaski Foundation also participated in the Forum. The official partner of Doha Forum 2025 was the Warsaw Security Forum, which hosted the panel “Modern Warfare: Rethinking Security Architecture Beyond Conventional Threats.”
The event also saw a record-large delegation of European Union institutions, headed by Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission. The several-dozen-member delegation also included Olof Skoog, Deputy Secretary-General of the European External Action Service for Political Affairs, as well as Luigi Di Maio, EU Special Representative for the Gulf. On the margins of the Forum, a meeting took place between the High Representative and the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed Al Thani, as a result of which it was agreed to formally launch negotiations on the conclusion of a Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) between the EU and Qatar.
This year’s conference was held under the slogan “Justice in Action: Beyond Promises to Progress.” It provided a platform for dialogue in key areas such as peace and security, the global economy, technological development, human rights, and humanitarian assistance. Nearly 6,000 participants from 150 countries attended the event. Among the guests were representatives of numerous governments and organisations, including the Presidents of Syria, Ghana and Somalia; the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Norway, Egypt, Nigeria, Turkey, Yemen and Liberia, as well as Bill Gates, Donald Trump Jr., Hillary Clinton and Børge Brende.
