Visit of the Jagiellonian University delegation to Qatar

From 6 to 11 December 2025, a delegation from the Jagiellonian University in Kraków visited Qatar with the aim of developing academic, educational, and cultural cooperation with Qatari academic institutions. The delegation was headed by Prof. Jarosław Górniak, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of the Jagiellonian University. The meetings in Qatar were also attended by Prof. Barbara Michalak-Pikulska, Head of the Department of Arabic Studies and Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies at the Jagiellonian University.
During the visit, meetings were held, inter alia, with representatives of the leadership of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Qatar, Qatar University, as well as Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Georgetown University in Qatar. In addition, the delegation was received at the Qatar National Library and the National Museum of Qatar, and also visited the headquarters of Al Jazeera Media Network and Katara Cultural Village. The discussions focused on research cooperation, academic exchange, and joint scientific initiatives.
The visit contributed to strengthening academic relations between Poland and Qatar and to promoting Polish science and scholarship in the Gulf region. Cooperation in the above-mentioned areas is being implemented on the basis of the Poland–Qatar Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Science and Higher Education, signed in July 2024.
