Visit of the Polish-Qatari Parliamentary Friendship Group to Qatar
13.11.2025
Between 8–12 November 2025, a visit to Qatar was held by Members of the Polish Sejm: Wojciech Król, Chair of the Polish–Qatari Parliamentary Group, and Tomasz Kostuś, member of the Group. This was the first visit of its kind by Polish parliamentarians to Qatar. Its objective was to launch a parliamentary dialogue, participate in the celebrations of the Polish National Independence Day, meet with the community of the Polish School in Qatar, and strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture, education, sport, media and civil defence.
A number of meetings took place during the visit. The delegation began with talks with the Chairman of the Qatari Shura Council, Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim. Discussions focused on the role of parliaments in advancing political, economic and social cooperation, including in the context of ongoing armed conflicts (Ukraine, the Gaza Strip). Both sides expressed interest in developing inter-parliamentary contacts, regular visits, and exchanges of best practices in the legislative field.
Members of the Polish–Qatari Parliamentary Group also took part in a reception organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Doha on the occasion of the Polish National Independence Day on 10 November. During the event, an address was delivered by MP Wojciech Król. The delegation also met with the Director of the Polish School in Qatar, Edyta Gierycz, who presented the school’s achievements and activities since 2013. Discussions covered options for financial support for the school’s operations by the Polish Sejm, as well as projects—supported by the Embassy—planned for 2026.
In addition, the delegation held meetings with the President of Qatar Museums, Mohammed Saad Al Rumaihi; the Executive Director of Al Jazeera Media Network’s channels, Ahmadem Alsagatrim; the Managing Director of Al Jazeera English, Issa Alim; and the Executive Director of the Qatar National Library, Tan Huism. The delegation also toured the Katara Cultural Village Foundation and the Aspetar sports medicine hospital, where meetings with the respective management teams were held.
