Poland in Qatar

On 23 January 2025, H.E. Tomasz Sadzinski, Head of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland, met with the Acting Director General of Al Jazeera Media Network (AJMN), Dr Mostefa Souag (MS). The purpose of the visit was to discuss its activities and development plans, as well as potential cooperation with the embassy. At the outset, he thanked the establishment for its good working relationship with the AJMN so far. He drew attention to the fact that Poland is currently holding the presidency of the EU Council and presented its priorities. He stressed that an important area of activity for Poland is fighting against foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) and disinformation. He expressed interest in learning more about the activities of the Al Jazeera Media Institute (AJMI), as well as developing analytical cooperation between Polish think tanks and the Al Jazeera Center for Studies. He mentioned the visit of Polish Institute of International Affairs and Centre for Eastern Studies analysts to the centre, organised by the institution, on 9 December 2024.

The host confirmed his interest in Poland and in maintaining cooperation with the Polish Embassy in Doha. He presented the priorities of the station's activities, among which was reporting on events in Ukraine. On the issue of disinformation, he informed that a dedicated team has been dealing with this for many years, and the station is also working on its own IT tools in this area. He invited Polish representatives to participate in conferences organised by the Al Jazeera Media Institute, pointing as an example to the AI in Media event, which the institute organised in January this year.
