Ambassador Joanna Hofman visited Gothenburg

The first highlight of the visit to the west of Sweden, were meetings with authorities of the City of Gothenburg and the region. Ambassador Hofman held a conversation with the new Governor of the Västra Götaland County Sten Tolgfors¸ which focused on possible regional support for Ukraine and the development of Polish-Swedish economic cooperation. Ambassador Hofman also met with Aslan Akbas, incumbent Mayor of Gothenburg. The meeting with the Mayor touched on joint cooperation at the regional level and the exchange of Polish-Swedish experiences in this regard, particularly in the context of Gothenburg and Kraków's partnership as sister cities.

In reference to International Women's Day, celebrated at the beginning of March, the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Gothenburg features an exhibition on remarkable Polish women, showing profiles of several Polish females whose achievements have marked their place in the history of Poland and the entire world. The Outstanding Polish Women exhibition was jointly opened on campus by Ambassador Hofman and the university's Vice Chancellor Eva Wiberg. The event was also attended by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Gothenburg Göran Hult. The vernissage was accompanied by a lecture by Professor Barbara Czarniawska on prominent Polish female scholars and a performance by the local Polish choir Chorus Polonicus Gothoburgensis.

The stay in Gothenburg was also an opportunity to visit the neighbouring municipality of Partille, where, among other things, the headquarters of Klima-Therm AB - a Swedish company belonging to the Polish Klima-Therm Group, involved in the design, production, sale and service of air-conditioning and refrigeration systems - is located. The meeting in the premises of Klima-Therm AB was attended by representatives of local officials, responsible for foreign investments and economic cooperation.

While visiting the municipality of Partille, Ambassador Hofman together with representatives of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency office in Stockholm, paid a visit to a few local companies in order to learn more about the environment for doing business in the region, as well as about the opportunities for cooperation of enterprises from particular sectors with Polish partners.
