Celebrations of the 35th Anniversary of the Weimar Triangle in Stockholm

On 3 September, as part of the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the Weimar Triangle, the Ambassadors of Poland, Germany and France-Karolina Ostrzyniewska, Ludger Siemes and Thierry Carlier-met in Stockholm with State Secretary at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs Dag Hartelius. The talks focused on European security, support for Ukraine, and cooperation between the Weimar Triangle countries, Sweden and the Nordic-Baltic region.
The discussion followed up on a joint article by the three ambassadors published in Dagens industri on 29 August 2026. The participants highlighted Sweden’s growing importance to European security following the country’s accession to NATO. They also pointed to Sweden’s experience in total defence and societal resilience, the potential of its defence industry, and its consistent support for Ukraine.
The ambassadors also discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Poland, France, Germany and Sweden in cybersecurity, emerging technologies and energy. They noted that Sweden’s bilateral partnerships with all three Weimar Triangle countries provide a solid foundation for further cooperation, including the strategic partnership with Poland renewed in Harpsund in November 2024.
