Centenary Celebrations of the Swedish-Polish Association in Uppsala

On 9 May, Ambassador Karolina Ostrzyniewska participated in the centenary celebrations of the Swedish-Polish Association in Uppsala.

The event brought together representatives of associations operating in the regions of Skåne, Västra Götaland, Uppsala and Blekinge. The Association’s Chairman, Peter Eklund, highlighted the organisation’s long-standing commitment since its founding on 19 February 1926 to promoting Polish-Swedish relations and strengthening cultural cooperation between the two countries, particularly through the organisation of exhibitions, film screenings, lectures and study visits to Poland.

Ambassador Ostrzyniewska welcomed the guests and expressed her appreciation for their efforts to deepen bilateral relations, as well as for their work in preserving and maintaining memorial sites connected with Poland, including those commemorating the Polish submarine crews interned in Mariefred in 1940.

During the ceremonial evening, participants also attended a lecture by Eva Mattsson devoted to Catherine Jagiellon and enjoyed performances of Polish musical works.
