Dar Młodzieży in Stockholm
12.06.2025
On 6-8 June 2025, one of the most important symbols of Poland's maritime tradition - the training tall ship "Dar Młodzieży” - docked at the Statsgården port in Stockholm. The visit of the frigate was a unique opportunity not only to explore the deck of this remarkable sailing vessel but also to promote Polish culture, maritime heritage, and to symbolically honor the achievements of Poland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
During its three-day stay in the Swedish capital, the deck of “Dar Młodzieży” was open to the general public – residents of Stockholm as well as tourists.
The visit also attracted many distinguished guests. On board the ship were, among others, Speaker of the Riksdag Andreas Norlén and his family, representatives of the Swedish diplomatic corps, and figures from politics, culture, business, and academia.
The stop in Stockholm was part of a longer training voyage that began in March and includes ports such as Antwerp, Oslo, and Hamburg. The voyage serves both as training for future officers of the merchant navy and as a platform to promote Poland internationally.
Built in 1982 at the Gdańsk Shipyard, “Dar Młodzieży” has served for over four decades as Poland’s ambassador on the world’s seas and oceans. The ship regularly participates in prestigious regattas and tall ships gatherings, including The Tall Ships Races, proudly showcasing Poland’s maritime traditions.
